G’day Everyone
Here are my top 3 plants of the week.
1. Celosia plumosa
Lifespan: Annual (An Annual plant will complete its whole life cycle in one season. It grows from a seed to a flower, and then to seed once more before all foliage, flowers and roots die off.)
Position: Full Sun ( North-West facing – Australia)
Sizing: 30cm High, 20-30cm Wide
They are super easy to grow and they are fantastic for some colour in pots or in the garden. Celosia is a spring – summer annual which will flower right through to mid-Autumn if fertilized and watered. During the colder months Celosia plumosa will begin to die off.
2. Chrysocephalum ‘Desert Flame’
Lifespan: Perennial (A plant that lives for more than two years)
Position: Full Sun
Sizing: 10-25cm High, 40-50cm Wide
I love this form of Chrysocephalum as they are compact groundcovers which produce bright yellow flowers throughout the warmer months in the year. They are an Australian native and are drought tolerant once established. They are great for rockeries, hanging baskets and spotted around the garden.
3. Mini King ‘ Red’ Flowering Gum
Life Span: Perennial
Position: Full Sun
Sizing: 2 meters high, 2 meters wide
These dwarf forms of Eucalyptus, flowering gums, are fantastic for smaller gardens. These trees make great feature plants in pots or in native gardens. They produce bright red flower clusters in the summer months and are known to repeat flowering in the autumn. I love these small trees in the garden because they attract birds and bees and once established they are drought tolerant.
