Last year for the first time in 10 years we had a real Christmas tree instead of an artificial one. After having a real tree in the house with the fresh pine fragrance, going back to a fake tree really doesn’t feel the same. Over the weekend we went to our local Christmas tree farm to pick out a tree.
One of my favourite activities is to go and choose out a tree. There is nothing better than having a real Christmas tree, don’t you think?
Our local tree farm is only a hop and skip down the road and it is always impressive upon first glance. There are thousands of trees and every year you have a selection of a few hundred to choose out of. But with so many trees to choose out of it is easy to become very judgemental of each tree you look at. After walking rows and rows of trees we found our tree in the very back row… We picked out a 9ft tree which is the biggest tree we have had in a very long time haha. We even had the workers, who were really friendly, ask us if we had ceilings high enough. Luckily we do.
One of the workers managed to get a net around the tree which they told us it only just fit into. It took 3 people to carry it to the car and once it was in the back of the ute we realised just how big the tree was. Instead of setting the tree up in our old house we hit the highway and headed up to the new property, which is a good hour plus away…. The whole time I was thinking the poor tree is going to be in the hot sun and wind.
But our Christmas tree survived the journey and it looks pretty awesome!
