We woke on day three packed our bags and jumped in our hire car. Can you picture a small SUV van with 6 foreigners and suitcases pilled in? We are all jammed packed but ready for the adventure to begin!
We made our way towards Kawaguchiko which is located near the southern Yamanashi Prefecture near Mount Fuji. It is a famous little town for viewing Mt.Fuji as it is the second largest of 5 lakes near Mt.Fuji.
The first stop on our journey was at Chureito Pagoda which is a very famous viewing scene of the great mountain. But the weather wasn’t too favourable and Mt.Fuji was hidden behind thick cloud.
After visiting Chureito Pagoda we finally made it to the town of Kawaguchiko!
We had plans to hire the boats on the lake for an hour but due to the weather everything was closed down. It was a real shame, so we had some lunch and made our way onward. Along the way we stopped at two different caves. One being an ice cave that was used to keep food fresh hundreds of years ago and another was used to preserve silk worms and other rare items.
We then made our way to the next town which is where our accommodation was for the night and along the way we drove past the suicide forest. Such a beautiful looking forest really does show a mask to the unknown viewer, the darkness it has hidden behind thick trunks is very sad.
